Default What's a used engine core worth?

Anyone care to hazard a guess as to what a used 964/01 C2 complete engine is worth in resale with a bad rod bearing? I've got a pretty good feel for what good running 964 engines are going for ($6000 - $9000 depending on miles and condition).

Without knowing if the crank is fixable or not ?
Some cranks crack and are junk .
Some cranks need an undersize cut ...
The motor might be worth more parted out , I see the parts go for more than the whole .

If all capital parts (case, heads, crank, rods, cams) are still OK, $2500 looks reasonable. With any major component unusable, I expect the engine is worth more in parts. I hate to think of what a new crankshaft costs.

Yeah, like a targa top at $15,599. You could get a pretty good condition SC one..... with the car for that price.
