Steve, congratulations!! That is one sweet looking (and I bet, sounding) car.

What about some engine, interior, and just more photos Sweet.

Thanks guys but Mark it has no sound at the moment as it is coming without a motor. The one that was in it was not legal for vintage racing so I had the owner pull it and we will build one for it. And yes, it will sound really good when done. I am real excited!

Well this is kind of fun and not so fun. Nearly 3 years later I am headed to the track this weekend with my new/old Alfa finally ready! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS THREAD IS THIS OLD NOW!

Oh well. Here are pics of the completed car at a test session this last Monday and tomorrow we are off to Hallett for CVAR racing with it. Thought some of you guys would want to see the finished product.

It is as low to the ground as it looks. Top of the front hood is 25" and the rear deck is at my knee. Kind of the size of a big go-cart. 220+/- hp in 2,038# Have not dyno'd it yet.

Old racecars always look so cool because you can take the bumpers off of them.

Very cool

The Toyos on the rear look to be running in the wrong direction....any reason for that?

Great looking car. I have a soft spot for Fiats/Alfas, as I had many Fiats before catching the 911 virus. I had many many learning experiences on my first 77 124 Spider, then an 81 Turbo (which actually worked) then a few X1/9 experiences. Great cars. I always wanted an Alfa... maybe someday.

You've probably already had a look but I used to use these guys when I was a big time Alfa nut http://www.afra.it/alfaromeo-epoca-4...o=105320150000 - no problem getting twin spark heads you "just" need €6K The campagnolo wheels they have are nice too and fairly priced, although they aren't the original mag ones.

Great car, wish they still made them like they used to! Porsche may have gone from air cooled to h2o but still make gems like the GT3 etc. For the past 20 years now Alfa has become specialized in rebadging other brands of cars - Fiats in the worst case scenario and Maseratis as best case...

Cobalt I'd love to see some pics of your client's Alfas - IMHO the 33 stradale and tz2 are 2 of the best cars ever built.

You got room for an oil pan guard? I'm thinking kind of critical when you're that low to the ground, even on a "smooth" race track. (I'm an Alfa guy too, and those oil pans are notorious for hitting things they shouldn't!)

I still have the first wheels I had on it but they are 15" and 13's were what the car was homologated with so I can't run them. They are now for sale as I can't keep collecting wheels!!!

The basic problem is that with a sump gaurd you lower the impact piece and just knock the guard into the pan...breaking it sooner

Thanks everyone! Still sorting it out but it is going to be a very fun track car and pretty much one fulfilment of my dreams from youth.
