I presumed so, to stop too much pressure being exerted on the pivot itself, it's only a rivot.

Can somebody please confirm that the flat rear tabs that are rivoted to the sunroof should be under the metal rod on the cable like this post illustrates? The only reason I am asking is I have my sunroof out and mine weren't under them they were on top like the first pictures. Thanks

Yes, the rear tabs should be under the metal rod. It pushes the rear headliner down.

Edit - It pushes the headliner down and the back of the sunroof up.

Oh this is awsome, i have to work on my sunroof tomorrow and i have no clue how it works, well a little now.
My problem is that the sunroof on the right rear is a tad low and there is a gap between the rear of the sunroof and the roof of the car. It causes some wind noise but the sunroof operates fine. What do you think the problem may be?? Just a slight upward adjustment needed in the right rear??

Jerry - Verify that your springs are set properly. These springs push the rear of the sunroof up. See dfinnegan's photo below. Also, you can adjust the max height by loosening and moving the screw seen. It has some serrations that allow you to adjust the height.

Jerry,
I just took my sunroof out to have the headliner reupholstered. I'm waiting to get it back to do a more detailed thread, but I have a couple pictures in this web album that might help?

Just to clarify I understand that the tang should be under the metal rod. I am having a hard time thinking that the rod should be under the tang where it mounts to the sunroof as the picture shows. Then all of the load is transferred through the rivot instead of the tang. Why is the tang there??Thoughts?????

The spring should be below the rod but under the tang. Note: In this picture, the spring shows the mark that it was previously under the tang.

Why was it under the tang previosly? Should it ever be?
