Default stands on sale

Just thought I'd mention that Steve at Ultimate Garage has the stands on sale this week (no affiliations etc); I just bought a pair & saved about $40. They're not made by AC anymore, but the quality still looks good (& they were at my door in 2 days).

Jacking up the rear under the engine case and placing jacks under the jack pads not a problem. I'm still a little confused about the front. What are you guys using for a jack point in the front?

If I am needing to put the front up on jack stands, I will put my floor jack under the rear jack point, once the car is tilted, I will place a jack stand under the front jack point. I then move to the other side of the car and repeat.

Thanks Rob, it scares me to do that. It just seems as though the car has a chance to shift and topple over on the side with jack stands while your jacking up the other side.

I've seen it done a gozillion times at the track and it still scares me, too.

You need a very sturdy floorjack, one that can be eased down gently, and then I'd lay down the wheels and shove them under the rocker panels for insurance (peace of mind) before working underneath. I'd also recommend using an impact wrench instead of breaker bars/"persuaders" to minimize huge torque transfer.

Have fun and be safe!

Hey Joey, thanks for the input. I suppose once I do it a few times I'll get comfortable about it.

If you use the flat top style jackstands at their lowest setting, it's a piece of cake. I too was worried the first few times, but now I raise and lower it quite quickly without even thinking about it.

You're welcome. BTW, great advice from Joey B. about sticking your wheels under the car. I do that to. 3000 lbs squishing your head would not be good.

Wanted to let everyone know that Ultimate Garage has the flat top jackstands on sale for $65 each until July 31 (or when he runs out of stock). See link here. I just ordered a pair. These are made in China now, but Steve at Ultimate Garage told me that the welds and finish actually look to be higher quality than the last batch he received from Europe.

No financial interest, just passing on a heads up in case anyone needs a set.

That is a smokin deal on those stands. If you don't have them, get them now because they have limited production runs and have been unobtanium for the past year or so. No affiliation, just a satisfied user of the AC Hydraulic brand ones.
