My car is not as far down the "full race car" slope as these other guy's so I can attest that I noticed no difference in noise (as I still have all the other sound insulation present.....for the moment).
While the Rennline aluminum race mats are nice, you can make your own for less than $50. Just buy a couple of 2x2 sheets of aluminum and trim to the shape you want.
