CALIPER PAINT FOR FAN AND SHROUD
Has anyone used the caliper paint to paint the fan and the fan shroud housing?
I was thinking of doing this over powder coating.
Caliper paint is cheaper and if something hits the fan and chips the paint it's and easy fix.
LMK what you think..........

I seem to recall a discussion a little while back about this and there was concern about paint because of 1) narrow clearance so thick paint might have the fan hit the shroud 2) uneven paint application might make the fan unbalanced.
Still, it does not sound hard and there appears to be clearance in the shroud for a thin layer of paint.

I haven't tried it, but now that you mention it I might. The beauty of doing it this way is that you don't need to remove the fan and the typical powercoating clearance issue becomes moot. You only need to paint the faces of the fan and not the entire thing. The brush on caliper paint is self leveling and sticks very well, I think it'd come out great.

i just did my calipers with the caliper paint, it works great it also dries hard as a rock. But the problem would be the application, its very hard to work with as it dries really fast and you have to put several coats on to get it nice and smooth and shiney. I think it would be a nightmare to do the entire fan with it and then as one guy said you may have a serious balance problem once its on. But i think it may be do-able you would just have to have lots of patience and make darn sure you put it on evenly.
