Default Repaint or Replace Wiper Arms

Just wondering - my wiper arms are looking a bit sorry as the black coating has come off in places and they look a bit poor. Options seem to be to replace with the double spring arms (which seem expensive to me at £27 each) or get the current arms painted. Has anyone tried painting them or am I better off buying new ones?

I bought the double spring ones from Bert Gear (berlyn services) don't remember them being that price though.
Go on treat yourself, they do make a difference in the rain.

Just checked, they are £27ea.......crikey.

My wipers are terrible. The springs arent strong enough to keep the blade tight to the window.
Where are these double spring ones from? Website?

There seem to be 2 part numbers 964.628.028.01 and 964.628.028.03. I am assuming the .03 number is the double spring ones. They can be found here

I have just bought two on ebay - I feel very smug - total cost £35.00 for the new 2 spring arms.
There is a major difference between the arms
on uk right hand drive cars
- the near side blade is straight
- the off side arm is canted to reduce the lift and to try to keep the arm wrapped the screen

I was planning to paint mine, since I have the same problem - however, it sounds like the replacements are cheap enough so I think I'll go that route.

Was this an ebay store or an individual? Quite a considerable saving at £35.

Tell me more . . .

I am sure it was an individual, definitely not an ebay shop
- but they were in their original plastic bags
- one from Stratstones and the other from somewhere else, I cant remember
- obviousley a one off - first time i have had a real result on ebay !!

If anyone verifies the part number for double spring wipers to be (964.628.028.03), please be sure to let us know!

Thanx

I will check part numbers but purchased replacements for my turbo from Sunset cost me $29 each. Both the wiper arms on my turbo and my C2 had the 2 springs and work fine.

Duplicolor makes a bumper trim paint that is an exact match and will make your arms look like new if you decide to sand and paint. I always try first and if they come out like crap you can always spend the money on new. In the case of my turbo I went with new since I show the car, worst part is I had to replace them because of 3 rock chips which cost me 1/2 point at the last Concours. The old turbo arms are going on the C2.

I replace mine because they were 18 years old and had no paint left on them !!
They still worked fine - with a single spring! -
