Default New wheels but.....

I had these installed today. I am not so sure I am impressed with the installation.

The fronts are P225/40R18Y Rears are P255/35R18Y

I am a bit concerned with the tire width on the front....the stick out a bit.

What do you guys think? I will take better pictures tomorrow as it was dark when I snapped these.

I hope you meant 255/35/18 on the rear. If so, then they are for the rear, and the 225/40/18 are for the front.
It appears your offset may be off on the front.
I am sure someone will let you know what the correct offset it.
Oh... and lower that thing.

I fully intend to lower it this summer. Give me a little time my good man I have only had her a few months and winter just passed.

BTW I corrected my typo....255 in the rear.

The offset is off, I have the same sized tyres on the front of mine and they don't stick out that much. I have 50mm offset and a 5mm spacer on the front and they still don't stick out. What are the offsets of that wheel?

I will find out for sure tomorrow. I am tempted to say 9.5 but I am not sure if that is the front or back and my slip does not say. I will call "Town Fair" in Salem N.H. tomorrow and see.

Can this create problems?

Hre is a link with the info on the offsets.

IS there any way for me to go check if they crossed them up and put the fronts on the rear and the rears on the front?

I suspect that this is the PN you purchsed:

1880VIL455130S71

45mm offset seems, not crazy but also not quite enough I would think. Isn't the stock front 55mm offset? I know mine is 50 and 55 and I'm sure the rear is the 50.

That is with 17" wheels, not 18"s

It's not the width of the tires, I run 225's on the front of my car as well.

45mm offset on the front will cause this problem as the wheels are out further than they should be. They need to be closer to 50-53mm. If they are 45mm, and you ca check if they are OEM Porsche, the offset is stamped next to the valve stem, they are the wrong offset and there is nothing you can do to increase that number. Not sure if they will caue you problems, I would suspect rubbing and problems turning lock to lock.

I was also looking at those wheels but since the offset is not meant for 964, I decided to pass. I run 235 in 18'' in the front with no problem. 255 for 18'' is too narrow and should of went with 265.

Good luck

255 is too narrow in the rear, 265 is the correct size for this wheel.

OK, so I was not insane. 45 sounded way to shallow. Other than cutting out the suspension and moving it in 5mm it looks like a different wheel is required. I looked at what they listed and there was only one offset for the front (45mm).

Have a look at mine https://rennlist.com/forums/964-forum/342072-wheels-wells-full.html - I believe they're 53 rear offset with 265 tires. They look like they won't fit, but they do. I'm running 25" rear fender height.

If you've got the 1811VIL525130S71 you should be OK.

Its not the rears that are the problem. 53 is about the right offset for 964 at the back. Mine are 65 with a 15mm spacer to get them in and pull the wheel out into the well, so mine are basically 50mm offset.

I read here some people have larger spacers that effectively changes the offset to 45 or even lower. the problem then is the fender lip will need to be rolled.

The fronts of his car seem to be the problem here. MASSGUY, did you check before you bought these wheels? There are a ton of threads on here about wheel size, offset etc.

You should ask on here what will happen if you do run with that offset on the front. You might also suffer from spray up the wheel arch when its wet and could fall foul of the law if they see excessive spray out of the wheel arch.

Hm, that's a good point. Around these parts that would be a pretty important consideration, since we have 5 days of sun per year.
