Default OT: Old porsche websites never die.

Before my 964 came along my previous porsche was a 1984 944.

In the spring of 1999 I blew the transmission. I took some pictures of the changeout and created a website with the pictures. ( A fairly new thing to do back then)

About 3 months later there was a series of ownership changes with lycos and tripod and through it all my login got changed and I was never able to edit the website again.

Now 9 years later the website is still there. Alot of it is broken now, but somehow they keep on adding new advertising to it. (Pity the hit counters, etc are all broken now)

I wonder how many more years it will make it.

Kirk

Kirk - Hit your site with The Wayback Machine. As of Feb 2006 your old site had 1,730,882 hits.

Ummm...Did you drive that 944 thru a rain/mud storm before the tranny job?

That is so cool! Very informative too. I had a page dedicated to my band on Geocities (remember that site?) back in 1997-98. Just like yours, my page is still somewhere on the interwebs, but I have no access to it anymore. Oh well

Stephen, where did you find the counts? I can see old websites, but not the hit count.

Kirks old web site had a visible page counter. Without one you would never know the hit count for any page or site.

Ah. Thanks. I thought they somehow had the hit count for the archived sites. Guess that couldn't be unless they got the logs, too, and it appears they just run a spider like everyone else.

Thanks,
Dave
