Default some pics 'cause I'm bored - car ****

Hi Guys

sitting here in the office a little bored and trawling the forums, and because I know how much you all like to perve at pics, I popped down to the garage and snapped a few. (BIG apology for the poor quality, but lighting in garage is a single fluro, so my poxy little flash had to do all the work).

Anyway, I have now installed clear lenses (need to get me some silver globes to replace the orange ones) and I have also upgraded the stereo (he he). At least it matches the color of the car

I also didn't realise how BLUE the interior was. It's Marine Blue (code SX) in Soft Look Leather (code 980 - "Draped Leather"). Even in daylight, it looks black, but the flash really brings out the color and highlights the difference between the blue and black trim.

As you can see from the dash pic, the speedo reads to 300, so this is one fast Porsche

Some more small cosmetic mods to do, pedals, probably door handles and centre console etc etc. Any suggestions?

PS. I only got back an hour ago from driving through some pretty heavy rain, roads wet and greasy. Car felt great, but I gave it too big a bootful out of one 90 degree bend, and the back stepped right out, but I seem to have caught it quickly enough. I don't thing I'm THAT good a driver, so I think the PDAS must have kicked in. Should a light have come on the dash if it did???

PPS. got to love the Grand Prix White I was going to give the car a quck chamois wipe-down, but had second thoughts when I realised that it was un-neccesary! The white really does camouflage a lot of sins!

There's a small yellow light in front of the stick shift that'll come on when the PDAS kicks in.

There is also a green light on the oil guage, but the bulb was pulled prior to production as it was considered an annoyance. It is a simple matter to add the bulb back. I've been running with that light in place for about nine months and have not found it annoying; even at night. It doesn't light up all that often and I find it interesting to see when it does light up. Pretty easy to get it to kick in on hard turns or slick surfaces. On occasion I get it to kick in during straight line acceleration if I really push it.

Lovely pics of another cool GP white car!

Your 3rd photo just reminded of something I've been mean to ask the forum. What are the plastic boxes under the dash for? There's nothing in mine!!

OK, I'm in. How do I replace the globe? Do I need to pull the dash out or is it a simple install?

Pull the gauge out.
Pull the plug from the light socket.
Install new light socket with bulb.

The new light socket with bulb is inexpensive at the porsche dealer; couple of bucks.

To pull the gauge you simply draw it from the dash. Some times they are kind of stuck. You can start with a small one and then reach your hand into the hole to push out the bigger one from the back. You can use a lever of some type (e.g. screw driver covered with cloth), but be careful! Some folks recommend levering against an adjacent gauge, but you can easily leave a mark on the ring that way.

When putting the gauge back in I understand that rubbing alcohol makes for a great lubricant.

The plastic boxes under the dash are for the HVAC system. They do seem to be a bit more visible than I'd expect, but you should have them.

so is the cardboard up front to catch the PS fluid from a leaking rack? I have the same problem

I have the same problem with marine blue in photos - nearly didnt buy mine as the interior looked really very bright 'electric' blue...in normal light most assume it's black...nice looking car. thanks for the ****!

also had exactly the same 'rear end' issues this weekend - coming out of a junction, in the rain, and then all over the place...before i elegantly controlled it, and went for a change of underwear.

good spotting. Not PS fluid, engine oil. I normally park car nose first, so matt is usually under rear of car. (btw, not cardboard, nothing so cheap for my baby, remember this is a P car! it's a $2 matt matt from China, coir topped with rubber backing!!!)
