Right side wheels out-of-true; any fix?
 

I recently had new Bridgestone RE050 Pole Positions put on my 964's aftermarket 17" wheels; the tires themselves are good fit, but the installer mentioned as part of installation that both passenger side wheels were slightly out of true round. I'm the fourth owner, the wheels were probably installed at least 8 years ago, and therefore I have no idea how long the car may have been rolling along this way. I suspect some monster pothole was the cause whenever it happened.

For what very little it's worth, I can't feel anything odd at all at speed; there's certainly no oscillation or shimmy that's caught my attention, so maybe the weight balancing on the wheels themselves is compensating for any effect.

The obvious fix is to replace all four wheels. Has anyone ever used a speciality shop to repair a wheel true condition, or done anything to tweak this particular situation? If I do end up replacing them with new 17s, any recommended OEM'ers or resellers? A Design 92 5-spoke might be the ticket. Tire Rack's selection of wheels doesn't work for me.

If you can't feel it, don't worry about it. If it still bothers you, send them to any wheel straightening place and they can true them up for you.

How much "out of true round" ?
Are we talking thousands or what ?

I had an aluminum rim which would balance but had a slight bend on the outteredge. I took it to a wheel repair person who put it on a lathe and took off a couple mm's to true it up. The balance weights took out any vibration while it was in the bent state byt cosmentically it didn't look good going down the road with this slightly noticible wobble.

Not very far out of true at all; I spent some time trying to eyeball the trouble this weekend, but couldn't see anything. I'll scour the wheel repair shop listings here in Chicago.
