I have a 90 C4 cabrio and my cruise control is not working. Any trouble shooting ideas?

Check the switch that is hooked to the clutch pedel. They seam to get out of adjustment and the cruise won't work. I did a search on renlist and found a lot of people have this issue and adjusting the switch helps alot of them. It fixed mine.

My brake switch has stuck a couple times and I've lifted the brake pedal with my toe to resolve the problem.

Hope this helps

Mine too. I thought it was clicking on and off, so thought I had to buy a new controller. Nope, by loosen the switch and repositioning so it damn sure was clicking fixed it. 5 minutes well spent.

Also, cheezy as it sounds, I put my shop vac down there (a lot of stuff gets around there over the years) and then gave the moving parts a good squirt of WD-40. My clutch pedal now travels back up farther than it did

Chance

Keep in mind that WD-40 is not a lubricant as much as it's a cleaner only.

The two times when mine wasn't working it turned out to be:

1. A loose connector on the cruise control actuator wiring harness, located behind the heater fan in the engine compartment. There is a bulkhead there where all the engine wiring is connectorized and supported.

2. The cruise control linkage had come loose on the throttle assembly (rod had popped off ball socket). This one is dangerous as the linkage can jam the throttle in a near wide open state.

Hope this helps!
