Question from Potential 964 Buyer
All,
I have been looking for a 964 and asking questions here for a while. There is a 90 C2 listed in Classified https://rennlist.com/ads (add# 5943) for $23.9K with 100K miles with recent clutch and engine out reseal. How much is an engine out reseal for a 964? I assume that is why it is priced on the high side.
Is a reseal worth the higher $$ compared with a car that has typical leaks (few drops)? Any input is appreciated.
TIA
Nader

I would ask the seller to show you the receipts for the work done. That will show you exactly how much they spent on it. I looked at the ad, they are a reputable seller. The car also has an LSD which carries a premium if you're planning on taking it to the track.
Good luck

Why not buy a low mileage, later year model with all the right (and expensive) mods already done!

I love to. How does $20K sound without the fancy wheels?
Your car is a nice one indeed. However, I have been watching your responses to Colin's advances to buy his turbo rather than build one. As far as buying your car goes, I am afraid it is over my budget, especially since I am not willing to cut back on the race car expenses.
I was just trying to get a reality check on whether my expectation of getting a 90-91 with high milage, but excellent maintainance records for around $20K are correct. I think the car in the ad is priced high.

Yep - $20K should get you a good car if you do your homework. They make poor project cars, so don't buy one needing more TLC than you can provide. Get a PPI and ask any questions you can think of - we all started out the same way.

I would agree that you can get a good higher milage car around 20k.
