Question Wd it be pretentious or inappropriate to replace the “Carrera 2” with a "911" badge?

Opinions please: Would it be pretentious or inappropriate to replace the “Carrera 2” with a "911" badge on the engine boot? Is this a poseur mod?

Here's the deal: I have to get my boot painted, and the "2" on the "Carrera 2" badge is already toast. Choices:

1) Just have "Carrera"
2) Buy a new "Carrera 2" badge
3) Have no badge
4) Find a "911" badge (I seem to have seen them somewhere. Help: Where?)

What does the mighty collective taste of the Rennlisters think?

What ever floats your boat, it's your car afterall.

Me, I'd probably go the 911 route if I had a black car...silver script looks nice IMHO, on silver just go black 911....

Go wirth the 911 badge! You can replace it qwith anything you'd like! Not poseurish at all... Unless you put "Turbo" on there if it isn't a turbo.

Non-Porsche aficionados know our 964's as 911's anyway. When I tell someone that I own a Porsche 964....most of them don't have a clue what that is. But when I tell them I have a 911....everyone knows what that is!

I'd say go for it and badge it as a 911.....

take the "rera" of and just have "Car" that way there won't be any confusion with the common folk....

Seriously, I like the 911 badge

You could also consider having whatever badging you decide on painted in a color other than black or silver.

I think the choice of badge is up to you but badge free just looks like the cars been painted to me. Personally i'd get a new Carrera 2 script.

I myself would go no badges.

Naked is the best.

When I took the badges off my RS the business cards (if you want to sell your car call me) on the windshield also slowed down. Only real porsche fanatics can tell its an RS without the badges

I've always thought the "2" was stupid. It's pretty much understood that if it's not a C4 then it has 2WD, no need for a badge. I think they did it because the original C4 came out before the C2 so they had to identify it somehow. Notice they didn't use the 2 on the 993, 996, or 997. If I were repainting I'd go with just Carrera. I do like the "911" badges though.

A lot depends on how original the rest of the car is. If it is 100% original, it is worth spending a little ot keep it that way. If you have a lot of modifications already, making one more is no big deal.

It's beginning to look like this should have been a poll!

I vote for 911 - think that would be cool. You can't do what Don did - with the rear lights on a 964 it would say Porsche twice and that's just silly.
