Painted D90's ?
Hi,
I would like to give a refreshed look to my car using my D90s that I like (if I wasn't in a budget probably I'd get the Speedlines )
I've been thinking about painting my D90s but would like to see a picture of them painted... I searched but didn't find anything.. does anyone have pictures of D90s painted?
Thanks
Jasper

Got no pics at hand but my old d90`s were looking a bit scabby so i sanded them down and painted them silver, they looked pretty good.i took the centre cap down to my local auto store and found the best match i could.
If i still had the wheels i would try and emulate the Fuch look paint the centres black leaving the rims silver.

The nice thing about D90's is they are cheap and easy to play around with. you can paint the centers and leave the outside lip silver.
This is a bit extreme and unfortunatly on my 944 but I did thid for my track/autocross car to give it some spice. I get a lot of compliments on it although a bit much for the treeet.

I'd go the silver route. I hated my D90s - but they were very very scuffed. After I'd bought something else I saw a local 944 which had immaculate silver D90s on them and I was surprised - they actually looked damn good!

I agree.
A clean fresh set of D90's look very nice. These were second hand needing paint so I figured for fun the red would be a nice contrast but I would never do this to a street car.
You can also vary the color to a bight silver or darker silver depending on your car color. It is the curb rash and scuffs that make D90's look bad more so than some other wheels.
There is a guy local to me that will restore your wheels for $80 each. That includes stripping the wheels down and several coats of paint and clear coat.
To be honest if your good with a spray can you can freshen up a set for about $6 a wheel. Sanding out the curb rash is easy so long as there is still material left.

Three Wheelin'
I have D90's that are in very good shape, and I like them well enough not to fret about changing them. I recently added center caps w/ oversized colored crests which set them off nicely (esp. with a red car).
The polished D90's with the colored crests on the blue car are some of the best-looking 16" wheels around, IMO.

The Forged Club sport version of the D90's is a great wheel and more condusive to polishing. The cast wheels can have surface pitting from the manufacturing process that is covered by the paint.
The wheels on the blue car do look great but not something you want to use for track use.
BTW what color is the blue car? Iris, Ocean, Cobalt very hard to tell.

Thats no ordinary 964 that is Robert Linton's one off America GS (Early photos before Humpty Dumpty days)

Yes, my car is cobalt blue; nice to see another one from time to time; they're spectacular in the sun. By the way, originally, the wheels were also painted cobalt blue; the dealer had the wheels polished before I saw it and bought it. I keep wondering what those cobalt blue wheels would have looked like . . . .
