Default Does anyone apart from me have a duffed Porsche?

As you guys know i bought a 964 with a duffed front end and rebuilt it with a full respray, 6 months of hard work and i have to say it looks fantastic, but i am beginning to wonder if im alone?

I have heard from a couple of people that it is extremly difficult to find a good 964 that hasnt had a bang sometime in its life?

How true is this? Also how much money should i be knocking off if i ever want to upgrade or take on another project?

Car Pic below for those who havent seen it?

Looks great!

Though, it appears that your your gas fill door is not flush. it can be made flush with a bit of timid bending. Mine was perfectly flush when I bought the car. After a visit to an autobody shop, of all places, to replace a broken windshield and deal with a rust blister If found the door was pushed in. I expect they pusehd the car around the shop and put a hand on the door by mistake!

I gently pulled it back up after reading about it here. It is now perfectly flush again.

Note that it took me several days of gentle prodding and getting a feel for how far to push it before I got it perfect.

Cheers,
Dave

Mine has a new front clip from the previous owner, courtesy of the rain at Sebring. You could never tell by looking. If it hasn't been hit, it isn't a racecar.

Jeffnudd,
Dont worry too much mate your not alone. I've been duffed many times since I entered the wonderful world of car ownership. Not withstanding some social duffing along the way. My 964 has been previously duffed front & back & has a few holes in its history. Plus I duffed it at Oulton Park into the tyres at the chicane. I like to think it adds character to the car (in other words getting it put right wasnt forcast in 2006 budget).

Anyway given the choice between a car previously duffed car & unduffed car what would you choose? Something that has been previously duffed usually has lower residuals. The margin depends on extent of duffing + quality of repair. Not knowing this makes it difficult to advise current or future worth.

Cheers
Steve

Edit: Forgot to mention, the car is on douglasvalley website in the salvage section, and im not slating them or nothing but i just think they are a little pricey.

Yes headlight adjuster screws, are they not supposed to be there on the 964's?
I had to buy a pair of headlamps for the car for the rebuild.

Pics of headlamps please :-) Give me some idea.
