964 C4 1989 NOISE
Hi, I've 2 questions about noise, forgive me for my english since i'm spanish. I would apreciate some help as i have heard this is is the best porsche forum ever.
I have 2 type of noises on board,
First one appers at 120 kph (55 miles?) comes from air system on the front and its sounds low Cri - cri continuosly. If I stop de air conditioning, then the noise gets lower but keeps there.
Second one its more a vibration than a noise. comes from the gearbox at 150 kmh in 5th gear and at 140 kmh in 4th gear. The vibration goes through the panel and arrives to the driving whell sligtly.
I hope I explained myself,
thanks
javier
(p.s) car has new suspenension, whells, rest is PERFECT

First of all, Bienvenido!!! Aqui estamos listos para ayudar en lo que se pueda. Welcome!!! When you say Spanish, are you in Spain or in another Spanish speaking country? Where are you located?
The first noise sounds like the air conditioner. Check for debris in the air ducts first to rule out a minor issue.
Also look at his thread: Strange A/C noise
The second issue requires more information. Could be tire related. What is the condition of the tires? When was the last time those were balanced?
I am positive others will chime in with suggestions.

Bienvenido!
Does the cri-cri noise stop when you shut off the air conditioning fan? ...not just the air conditioning. If so it is likely one of the two blower motors. I had this problem when I bought my car.
Vibrations could be transmission mounts...but before you move to something that serious, have your wheels balanced. More than likely it is a wheel balance issue.

Not sure about the first noise. The 2nd noise could be normal because the 89 C4 did not have the dual mass flywheel of later 964s. It had the old style flywheel from the Carreras that was a little buzzy in 5th. I had 2 89 C4s. The first one made noise, they second did not.
