Hammer club members, how do you perform idle adaptation with a hammer?
Hi all,
I am looking to perform idle adaptation with a Bosch hammer, hopefully solving an occasional stalling, and was not able to figure out the procedure to do so on a 1990 C2 Cab. For those who has done the idling adaptation before, could you please recommemd a procedure to do so on my 964?. Thank you inadvance for all your help. Andy

Sorry for hijacking, but a related question:
Is it even possible to perform an idle adaptation on an option 150 car (no Ox sensor, no cat, DME running open-loop)?

I remember when it was done on my car it had to be up to temperature. the mechanic let it idle for 5-10 minutes as apparently is doesnt work if not above a certain temp.
Good luck

Pesty is correct - the engine needs to be at operating temperature (the Hammer checks the head temp sensor) and all loads (lights, AC, heated seatsm rear window heater. etc) need to be switched off before the adaptation can take place. The Hammer will make you read through three help screens stating the above before it starts the actual procedure.

I did the engine adaptation with the hammer today, as suggested, and it seems to solve the idling problem. Before, the engine always threatened to stall, by dipping the idling rpm down way below 800,whenever I come to a stop, in gear or out of gear. After the adaptation with the hammer, the idling rpm is normal when I come to a stop. Thanks for all your help on this problem. Andy
