Best UK bilstein hd source?

The Isle of Man seemingly killed what was left of my shocks, they were not too bad, but the ride is really crashy now - times up on the 16 year old shocks :surr:

But goodness, there ain't much online. Bilstein.com has no uk dealers apparently. Carparts direct only shows for 356 and 924..and that seems to be it.

I see that Ian C bought from Bilstein direct, and Jeremy's thread showed some pretty good US prices, but there must be a good UK supplier?

Got mine from Simon at Essential Styling.

I've heard that Euro Car Parts bought out Bilstein UK - might be worth a punt

Johnny G Pipe 04-18-2006 05:49 PM

Cheers guys. Eurocarparts list just 'Bilstein sport' (is this the same?), and at £250 a corner.. Kevin, what did you pay?

McJohn 04-18-2006 06:02 PM

Johnny,

Ask Big Peter, he got a riduculously good offer for me from his contact at Euro Car Parts. I eventually went with the stock items, but it is worth asking him.

Cheers

Type 911 do a kit of the Bilstein sports and H+R springs for £775+VAT - I got this about 18 months ago, delivered next day for £20. I think the Sport and the HD are the same thing - Bilstein only list the Sport or PSS9 for a 964.

warmfuzzies 04-19-2006 03:07 AM

Johnny,

I'll send you a PM regarding the price, its less than anything else quoted here. But I did push hard and tryed a variety of different avenues first including AJUSA..................

PSS9 ... that's what I was thinking of ... that's what Peter got me a quote for.

Forgotten how much it was now, but I'm sure it was less than available elswhere.

Johnny G Pipe 04-19-2006 05:39 PM

Cheers folks. PSS9's are a rather non-frugal choice for someone as tight as I..looks like cheapest option may be importing HD's from the US.
If I get Peter to source them, I'll feel duty bound to have him fit them - and I was hoping to DIY. The springs were changed 3 years ago so they shouldn't be on too tight (ha ha..)

johnny G

could you let me know how you get on since i have exactly the same dilema.... where to source and who to use.

My ride is so crashy I've had to deflate the tyres some !!

Cheers

Cant we get some 'group buy' discount set up for buying this suspension setup? being that most 964 owners seem to opt for this combination, could be a good idea? .

I dont like the 4x4 look of the front arches on my C4 !

Whats the general impact on our insurance policies for fitting this improved suspension setup?...is it frowned upon and 'premium-ed' or just noted on the policy documents as modified ?

Johnny G Pipe 04-20-2006 10:19 AM

A group import might be on the cards, or maybe I should set up 'Johnny's Shocks PLC' ?!

Mjonzo, usually insurance companies only 'premium' power hikes in my exp. And you must get rid of that wheelarch gap. Its just plain embarassing!

ViperBob recently ran a suspension group buy on the 993 board.
