New to forum - future 964 owner?
I'm thinking of getting a 964....
I'll get back to that. I've been a fan of this board and Pelican for a few years but haven't had the need to log on here, yet. All my Porsche experience has been in the SWB cars. My first was a beautiful Bahama Yellow '68 911. Since then I've had a '67 911S, 67 912, 65 911, and now a '74 911S. What a difference a few years makes. That '74 is like a breath of fresh air. And so that got me thinking of maybe a newer car.... I would pride myself on only wanting SWB's with no heat, tempermental cold starts, the reek of fuel and oil, no creature comforts, and the scorn I would get for driving such an old car. But now their prices put them beyond the fun horse trading I did in the past. I'm just finishing up a restoration on my super-original, beauty of a '65 911. Already it's too nice to drive. I'm a big enthusiast, but not a collector. So I'm contemplating selling that when I'm done and purchasing a 964. Why? I drove a C4 when new in 1990, and I was impressed. It lacked in road feel compared to a SWB, but that was expected. Also the great creature comforts, reliability, beauty, and power are some of the other reasons. I've done some research here on this forum and am up to speed on what to look out for (i.e. DMF, head leaks, ozone, proper maintenance, etc.) and what book(s) to buy. So that being said, hopefully in a couple of months I'll post again with a new (to me) C2 5-speed coupe. Oh, and if you're thinking of selling your super-nice, well-maintained C2 coupe soon, I may be interested ;) Thanks for all the help and info!! Until then... Nate |
All the best in your search!
