Passenger door won't open from either side.
Hi, just had a call from my bodyshop guy to say that the nearside door won't open using interior or exterior handle.
Recently it had not shut until I sprayed the catch on the door with oil - I guess this is now stuck again.
I suppose I have to take off the door card and stuff... Anyone save me any detective work as to the likely sticky link, and lube advice to stop it from happening again?
TIA!

And that’s all it is...
I’m a WD-4O man myself... Followed by a finger of grease...
But surely there must be something else behind the interior door
plastic panel... Perhaps a good time while in the body shop to explore...
Better now, then late one night in the rain...
It’s those decals!!..
Good Luck...
From here,
Marc...

I had a wee scoosh with GT85, but not on the right bits, I suspect..
Problem is, of course, that we now can't get the engine cover open, either..

How much force has he use to get it opened ?
If non or little , it might be time for brut force and ignorance . One guy holds the exterior handle and the other guy pushes with his feet from the inside ? I'm guessing that the axle thats ment to rotate is stuck by rusty gunk . But don't trust me blindly , just a wild guess from way far away .

You are sure it was oil you sprayed Johnny? ... not "Rapid Setting Spray Epoxy"
Seriously though, it sounds more like something has broken than just stuck. Does it have central locking?
Best of luck with it.

Sounds like the rod to the latch which is on adjusting screw threads may have gone or the latch itself...It may be possible to partially remove the top / side edge of the door card to get your hand in the hole in the door near the lock to pull the latch rod.
The top strip above the card may be a problem as you can only undo the screw at one end and lift a little.....Never done this with the door closed, so don't break anything trying....good luck

Sorted, not by me. The exterior pull-lever hadn't returned to its usual position, caused by the pin that it pushes sticking in - thanks to 16 years of dirt building up in there. You get quite a bit of spray when overtaking widebodied 993's too, Hugh..
I think they used a modified indycam method to get it open - brute force whilst praying that nothing breaks.
The handle is off, soaked and lubed, as is the other side to stop it happening to the drivers door. That's how good the bodyshop guy that McJohn recommended to me is.
I collect the car on Sunday, (and I'm off to snow-laden Glenshee tomorrow.) Happy days!

Johnny,
Glad to hear it's sorted, and hope Stu has done a good job for you. I'll call round for an inspection some day.
Would you do me a favour and tell Stu his fame with Porsches is spreading, and I have a GT3 with gravel rash lined up for him next!
Have fun in the snow, just hope they've opned the road, it was closed on wednesday.
