When people are doing red, are they actually using porsche guards red, or just a bright red. (like duplicolor high heat ceramic for instance)

I see steve used powder coating, everyone else use regular paint?

I never made it over there that one day. I need to come over and show you someday soon. Maybe this Saturday?

Stopped working how? Like stopped spinning, or still spinning but noisy/making heavy contact w/ the housing?

If it stopped spinning, then obviously the belt that drives the fan broke/failed. If the fan is making heavy contact w/ the housing, chances the fan bearing or the alternator shaft bearings have failed.

Here's my colored fan action.

I ended up getting the fan powder coated signal yellow (same as my valve covers) and the housing powder coated metallic silver (same as my engine tin and engine carrier).

The coating went on rather thick and as a result the fan marked up the housing on the inside. I assume it's the thickness of the coating, but it might also be the housing out of round or the fan not being true (sourced it used). Regardless, i'm living with it since the cost of troubleshooting that issue would be the cost of replacing all the parts anyway. The fan bearing and alternator bearings are all new.

Hi

I had my fan done in black powdercoat and the housing blasted and done in clear powder. See below...

Edit: the original alternator was completely refurbed and the fan bearing replaced. The fan runs cleanly without fouling the housing.

Yellow painted fan and black painted shroud, quite an easy diy job:

It's the Rennspd fiberglass RS center section. If I was gonna do it again, I'd get the Cult Werks version.
