This all goes to prove that Oz Porsche prices are ridiculous.
I guess it's supply and demand but a

964c4 cab tiptronic (the cheapest variant here) sells for a minimum of $45,000AU or roughly $39000US

Good 964 C2, Australian delivered @ $65000AU or $56000US and

a nicely modded 964 track car (suspension, cams, seats, exhaust, chip etc) up to $80,000US!!

It's also interesting that here 993 prices are much stronger than a 996. A good 993 varioram C2 will cost around $100,000US! whilst a 98-2000 996 can be had for around half that. In many cases good 964's command higher prices than 996 models.

Replaced original engine at 99k miles with a used lump from a '93 (mileage unknown). It looks like I'll be spending the better part of $6000 making this car "right". Everything leaks on the car. However, it is a fundamentaly solid runner.

Motor rebuilt at 112K, sat for the last 5 years, and seller spent another 7K on it since the first of the year. So it's had nearly 18K done on it in the last 20K, previous own bought it for 32K and only put that 20K on it. It is nice unmolested car that just needs some love a few minor things need adressed, some of which I have already address or in the process of adressing - mainly getting the AC going which has ended up the most expesive thing so far to fix. I think I made out okay on a 7/8 overall car.

Overall, a very nice car. The motor had a rebuild a few thousand miles ago and included a new clutch. The A/C works great. The dealer said the rebuild was necessitated by the heat buildup from the under tray. The under tray was taken off by the dealer.

The car has many factory options, including headlight washers, heated driver's seat, rear wiper, ltd slip. The factory stereo wouldn't play CDs, so I replaced it with an Alpine unit.

I'm thrilled with my new car. Attached is a picture.

5: Two POs the 2nd one bought "certified" from a Porsche dealer. Dealer removed docu. from 1st owner. Only had receipts from 2nd owner.
