I went with 18" Fiske Fuchs with a Koni suspension setup. I am waiting on arrival any day. I like the classic look of the Fuchs.

I'm partial to the BBS LM's or E88's.

Yeah - that really is a good deal.

I mean - you could keep it - or sell it and enjoy some profit. If it's not what you want it's worth a nice chunk of whatever you would like to replace it with. It isn't every day that a car gets more valuable with time.

Yeah totally - I took from his post that he was aware that he got a good deal - and was musing about trading for a Cayman.

I am definitely aware of the deal i got on that car! I think the seller thought it was in worse condition than it was. He had used crappy towels to dry it so there were a lot of fine scratches in the paint, and it had also been sitting for many years so I am sure he assumed it needed thousands of dollars worth of work, thus he priced it well below market values in 2015.

So, at 33K + 7500 maintenance + $1500 for paint correction and ceramic coatings, I'm up to $42,000 but I still think that it was a hell of a deal.

The issue is that I live in a congested area with awful roads. It's difficult to enjoy the car which is what i prefer to do rather than have it just sit in the garage. I've almost been t-boned and rear-ended in it and that made me think that it's easier to replace a cayman GTS than it is a mint 964. At the end of the day, i know the right thing is to just move to a less populated area so i can enjoy the car in peace lol

Nothing wrong with a Cayman GTS especially if it has a 6 speed. They are far easier to drive and almost as engaging as a well setup 964 plus have a lot of safety features the older cars don't. If you can get a nice GTS for even trade. You may find that you will get more out of it than the 964 considering your circumstances. If you want the car for many years and don't mind saving it for the best driving conditions and days than the 964 might be worth holding onto. No doubt the GTS will eventually depreciate the 964 if well maintained without adding excessive miles will most likely increase.

What are your opinions on the premium for a RS America vs. a C2, all else being equal?

The RSAmerica.net says that the premium is +$10K over a similarly equipped C2. But that may be old info... what is the latest?
I see one was traded a short while ago for $91K (post #871 above)... is this fair for a ~60K mile example.

Thanks

To me an rsa is worth no more than a C2 unless it was spec no sunroof or radio. With ac.

i would pay more for RSA if it had no sunroof, just LSD and AC
no tail
WITH power steering...
i guess i will pay more for a C2 than an RSA.
