Updated pics and drove the cab on page 49...I made an offer of 18k on it.

I figure there is at least 7-10k worth of repairs needed.

That car will probably need $7-10k of engine maintenance at the low end!!! What about suspension/wheels tires/interior/exterior corrections? I'd go in with $15k and move much from there. If you get that car back in "great" condition, its maybe work $35k on the open market, how you choose to spend $20k is up to you but it won't be enough. You need to start reading up on the 964 forum... please don't go and make a post after this but use the search function.

Mecum Kissimmee 2016 – Auction Report
April 21, 2016 by Rick Carey

Lot # S122 1992 Porsche 911 RUF CTR Coupe; S/N WP0AA2966NS480142; Yellow/Gray leather; Estimate $325,000 – $400,000; Unrestored original, 2 condition; With Reserve; Hammered Sold at $265,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $291,500 – 3.6/469hp Turbo, Ruf-designed 6-speed, integrated roll cage, polyurethane bumpers, Ruf calipers, Ruf wheels, sunroof, tinted glass, power windows, Sony stereo, dash clock, whale tail, rear wiper. – Genuine Ruf Yellowbird. Small ding in right exhaust tip. Uneven gaps on engine cover. Very good paint. Lightly worn upholstery. Very good, genuine and original example from one of the best known Porsche tuners. – Mecum doesn’t seem like the kind of place to go shopping for Ruf-Porsches, but they had this car in 2016 and a 1997 car in similar condition last year. The 1997 failed to sell at $250,000, while this one successfully sold at $15 grand more. One of the quickest cars you could buy in 1992, this Ruf sold for about what a good 1992 964 Turbo S is worth but offers well over 100 hp more plus a number of other enhancements. When you take the exclusivity and added performance of this car into account, it actually seems like pretty good value. You could, of course, get this performance in a new Corvette for less than half the money but that’s irrelevant. Right?

Ruf strengthened the Porsche 964 body by seam and spot welding, removing the gutters and adding an integral roll cage. Aluminum body panels help the CTR scale in at just 2,580 pounds. Ruf manufactured its own 6-speed transmission to handle the increase in horsepower created by its hand-built twin-turbocharged Ruf 3.6-liter engine which is rated for 469 horsepower. Race-bred styling set the CTR apart from its production counterparts. NACA-style intake ducts over rear fenders draw in air over the intercooler under the rear spoiler and join polyurethane bumpers and 935-style mirrors.

This is insane. 91/92 C2 manual with 14k km translates to approx. US$120k. Is this even realistic?

Glad I got my 1990 C2 manual at US$40k.

How can you make a claim like this with only a craigslist ad? This car could have all sorts of issues that aren't pictured.

I was being facetious...it is definitely a scam or a bs listing. Your air-cooled collection's values aren't going anywhere!

I guess the small sample of cars currently available easily lead you to believe that. If there were a dozens of cars available I think the trend would be to see the red cars priced a hair lower, as they are with other 911 variants.

Regarding that tip cab on page 49, I would love to purchase that for a long term project I've had brewing in my mind. However, a quick glance at the spreadsheet for my current "barn find" 964 project tells me I wouldn't pay more than 10-12k for it.

I just drove home my first Porsche and new to me 1990 964 C4. I've been searching for quite a while and was initially looking for a 993, but this popped up locally and it drove great. Cosmetically, it is not by any means flawless, but mechanically it looks pretty solid. Knock on wood, no oil leaks found.

purchase price (in USD please): $30,000
purchase date: 8/26/16
mileage: 109k
state or country where purchased: WA, USA
Model year: 1990
C2 or C4: C4
Coupe, targa or cab: coupe
color: midnight blue, linen (I think these are the official colors)
tip or manual: manual
NA or turbo: NA
any aftermarket accessories that came with the car (including but not limited to wheels, suspension, exhaust, seats, stereo, mirrors, pedals, steering wheel, etc.): newer stereo
did the vehicle come with tool kit: Yes
did the vehicle come with tire inflator kit: Yes
your assessment of the vehicle history in terms of paperwork/receipts (1-10, 10 being highest): 8
your assessment of the interior quality (1-10, 10 being highest): 6
your assessment of the exterior quality (1-10, 10 being highest): 6
your assessment of the mechanical condition of the vehicle (1-10, 10 being highest): 7

PPI findings (my to-do list!):
-BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IS CORRECT, FLUID LOOKS DARKER THAN NORMAL
-FRONT BRAKES HAVE 3 - 4MM PAD LIFE LEFT
-REAR BRAKES HAVE 8MM PAD LIFE LEFT
-FRONT BRAKE DISCS HAVE A LIP ON OUTER EDGE, WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT WHEN BRAKES ARE SERVICED / REPLACED.
-ENGINE DRIVE BELTS HAVE CRACKS IN THE GROOVE RECESSES
-SPOILER WILL NOT OPERATE AS INTENDED, BELIEVE PROBLEM TO BE CONTROL MODULE.
-LEFT AND RIGHT REAR SIDE MARKER BULBS ARE OUT.
-FRONT TIRES HAVE 7MM TREAD LEFT
-REAR TIRES HAVE 7MM TREAD LEFT
-BATTERY VOLTAGE VERIFIED TO BE 12.49V STATIC
-ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS CHARGING AT 13.47V -SUNROOF SEALS ARE OLD, DISCOLORED
-AIRBAG LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED
-REAR DEFROST NOT WORKING

Compressions and leak down results:
CYL. #1: 8% LEAK, 210 PSI
CYL. #2: 12% LEAK, 220 PSI
CYL. #3: 8% LEAK, 210 PSI
CYL. #4: 8% LEAK, 210 PSI
CYL. #5: 13% LEAK, 210 PSI
CYL. #6: 10% LEAK, 220 PSI
