Wow that is a nice color. if the engine really needs work a leak down and compression test should narrow down where the issues are. if it's just a top end, low 30s? If it really needs more mechanicals I'd go down from there....

Gorgeous color. If you bring it back to life with a top and bottom rebuild, I can totally see it being worth ~$50k.

I've had a hard time finding 964 c2 coupe manuals ... where are you guys finding for around 30? I've been looking for months. They sell instantly.

At 30k these days, they are hard to find. I would by 2 or 3 more at 30k in decent shape.

i know this has been said many times. but its crazy (also crazy good) to see how the 964 has increased in the past decade. of course most of us can remember a time where everyone was screaming that this time would eventually come, but still in the grand scheme of air cooled, the 964 is still able to be had for a "relatively" good price. now the questions remains... who has a clean c2 coupe for me

I found mine in a 964 Owners Group on Facebook, and was only able to pry it from the guys hands because the motor was out and apart and he was moving to another state. I had to show up with 4 people, 2 trucks with 2 trailers, an engine hoist, and thousands of dollars in cash more than what any reasonable person would value it at. I was the second person he responded to (saw the post less than 10 minutes after it went up), and the first did not offer his full asking price. If that isn't lucky enough, the car was a bike ride from the house I grew up in, so I showed up almost immediately. I looked for over a year with PPI's in most corners of the country, all unsuccessful. I decided it was better to overpay for a local car that I knew needed everything, and build it as I wanted from the ground up, rather than continue to watch the cars inflate at a rate that nearly exceeded my rate of savings while I searched. I'll be into it well under 40k with a 0 mile motor, but it's (very) far from a clean car aesthetically.

The moral of the story.... you can't really be picky in this market if you want a straight C2 manual coupe that isn't red. And if you're not already hooked up in the pcar community, you need a fair bit of luck to go with your lack of discretion.

Best of luck to you.

I've recently found a 91 C2 Cab with 48k and a Tip.
Silver with blue interior and blue top.
List of items that need replaced:
-Back window
-middle tail light housing
-driver seat has a lot of wear and a hole in it
-some interior plastic on the door needs replaced
I don't have any pics I can post yet, but the we know the 2 past owners and service history. Headlights look good and I do not see any rust on it.
Asking price is 30k...I'm thinking 25k.
My only concern is this too much for a Tiptronic car?

Thanks for your input!

Detailed pictures would be very helpful. This could be a good deal if the engine, trans are in good shape. Get the car inspected.

A 40k car should not have a lot of wear and a hole in the drivers seat.

Update: I had it inspected and took it for a drive. Never have driven an 964 before, it felt solid and drove very well overall. The body and undercarriage are in good shape, but just about anything that was plastic was broken or needed replaced.

Here are the issues from the inspection(the tech and mine)...

Engine - several leaks - chain housing and heads
Seats - needs reconditioned
Top - needs reconditioned and a new window sewn in
Taillights - broken
3rd brakelight - broken
Tires - x4 dry-rotted
RT RR trim clip broken
Rear brake pads
Small fuel leak
RT window switches - broken
LT Side mirror glass - broken
Rearview mirror - missing
RT door handle - inop
Hood release - inop
Onboard computer - inop
Odometer - inop - tech estimates around 60k miles or less.
Radio - inop
Power seats - inop
E-brake - inop
Hazard switch - inop

New here and from Vancouver, BC!

I've been searching the local market for some time now for a C2 coupe manual and there is definitely not a lot on the market for sale. Anyone know any specific dealers here, or is it possibly better off finding one in the US or importing from Japan?

Oddly enough, I've actually noticed more non-reds than reds from my searches. Almost made me think red was the rare color instead.

I would suggest that you connect with the local Porsche Club.

The easiest way would be to attend their Dundarave Show & Ride which is on Father's day in June.

Here are the details:

http://www.pca-cwr.org/eventsactivities/dundarave/

There will be lots of Porsches to see and often the owners are right near by.
