It was sitting for 7 years due to health issues and when I purchased they were only worth 30K so I assumed the worst. Several people looked and wanted it to go for a serious inspection. I made my offer on an as is basis and I got it. Three months the value doubled, even if it need an engine, which it ended up not needing. 80K On my way! the cluck. Near perfect interior and a mainlanders folder that I did not know existed with the original RS America script new and never installed included.

I am sure you know that Brumos is now Fields Porsche and this 964 is OK but high priced. I think if you went there with a cash offer it could be yours. The new owners of Brumos are trying to clean house. May be a different place soon. It's a shame Brumos sold out.

The Amethyst 964 cab has been sold and delivered to its new owner. Thank you all for your interest.

... BTW, we are not a Fields store yet.

Two years ago (March 2014) to the day when it was worth maybe 30K if it was looking and running good.

I believe you. Just having a lil fun. Too bad those days are long over. I'll offer you 2X what you paid for it. That's great return on investment

I purchased my '90 964 in August '14 for $18K. GP White and 155K miles. It was my friends father-in-laws and was in a storage unit for a couple years. :-)

well, this will change all across the board. Soon enough, regardless Singer, rwb, billy bob restorations and "demand vs. supplier" preachers, economy dictates at the end. The big picture does not look good. My predictions:

-Very low mileage, original paint, great service history, cherry cars will somewhat maintain their values with the least hit. However this kool aid drinkers with paint all over their cars, leaking motors (and no they all do not leak, only neglected ones leak) with 100k+ miles on the odometer with worn out carpet and leather will be having difficulties asking $50k for an old beat up 20+ years old Porsche. Every fairy tail comes to an end.

Exotic market is already quite. There is a lot of change in hands among dealers and collectors. Some people are liquidating some their inventory at lost.

Are we ever going to see a sub 50k 964 in high teens? Nope. But if you are thinking about selling your car with issues, get rid of it while you can. Otherwise you will be back at square one.

I think we all have covered this already. People laughed at me back when the rise began years ago when I said this would be a carbon copy of what I experienced with the Grey market back in 1984-5. It has played out precisely the same way so the question is what will tomorrow bring? No doubt the interest is waning because there is nothing but overpriced crap remaining so many are moving onto other still rationally priced models. The crap has already begun to settle out. The question is what will the quality product bring at Gooding Amelia auction? This will be the first barometer of the market we have had in over a year. Finally after a year of crap trying to be passed off as quality is giving way to some worthy examples. Gooding is showing higher estimated values than they had before. Previous 94 turbos were estimated to bring between 250 and 300 they are now estimating 275 to 350. A very nice turbo recently sold for a quick sale in this price range.

The people with deep pockets aren't impacted by the economy and still seem to be buying up what they feel is a quality "needs nothing" car.

No doubt the more negative attitude will spread as others try to push the market down so they can actually afford the crap.

No doubt there were a lot of people that got into the market thinking they will make a fortune which is always a mistake. These cars are meant to be in the hands of enthusiasts and not speculators. The fact is the enthusiast has shown they aren't willing to part with their pristine examples and the boutique shops that gobbled up all they could find is stuck with a lot of crap they overpaid for and sold off all the quality cars. There are a ton of them all over the internet.
