Did anybody ever weigh any of the power steering vs manual steering parts?

Here are most of them. Not much to find there. Numbers are in lbs

1.02 large pulley and misc hardware
0.74 ps reservoir
0.97 ps brackets on top of valve cover
0.19 small reservoir hose and clamps
4.53 ps pump, small pulley, and hardware
2.5 estimated remaining ps lines, long lines and front lines

8.4 Benz power steering electric pump
1.25 estimate electric pump lines, adapters, brackets, wiring

I'm curious to find out whether there's a significant weight differential between the manual and power racks themselves.

Plus of course 1.2 liters of power steering fluid itself is about 2.25 pounds...

Hello guys,
Does anyone have removed both of his beams ? (front & rear)
I know some have drilled them, but is there really a gain of weight by drilling them ?
I herd a few of you have removed the front beam, the rear being more difficult to remove as it support the bumper right ?...
Just thinking removing both ,
Does any one know if the old 911's have them too ?

I put an almost bare shell onto the scales the other day and thought I'd add the info here. Weights were taken from under the jacking pads.

Easier to not what is still on the shell than whats removed removed:
Shell
Bonnet
Fuel tank
HVAC case
Empty doors
Factory sound deadening

EVERYTHING else not currently fitted.



After I levelled the pads I got the following weights & total (420.5kg):

Looks like you've also got front and rear glass but no side glass, correct?

Yes sorry should have spotted those too! Rear glass is heavier than standard as it has the wiper delete so no hole for the wiper spindle

Also steering column is still fitted.

Giving this a bump for a lightweight hood showdown. I just weighed my bare front hood and my one-off carbon hood on a consistently accurate scale (myself+steel hood - myself, myself+carbon - myself, keeps the scale in its accuracy sweet spot). A bit different from what's on the first page here. Maybe '92+ hoods had an extra 5lbs of reinforcement?

36.2 lbs '91 C4 USA steel hood, bare except emblem & original paint
15.4 lbs custom carbon hood, gel coat on top, uncoated carbon on bottom, unpainted

GT Racing's stock hood weight is consistent with mine "Original stock hood: 35 lbs". They say "average 10 lbs" for their foam core + fiberglass, which sounds unusually light

Hey Nick!

My stock frunk lid also weighed in at 32 lbs. Stock decklid 1990 C2 coupe.

As you know, I have the same CF frunk lid from Helion Composites. How’s your fitment? My lid is a bit too long, and the paint shop ignored my notes on adjusting the fitment. I may need to shave the front end down, or bite the bullet and get an aluminum hood.

Ha! Well I take some comfort that I'm almost spot-on the average= 36.0 lbs. A good exercise in internet accuracy.

My carbon hood is still leaning up against a wall... but I'm finding some time to get back to the 964. Interesting note on the length, I'll watch for that when I test mount. I co-drove our buddy Bob's '84 targa at last week's autocross. First time I spent a full day flogging a 3.2. And made me appreciate the 964 chassis more than ever.
