Unhappy Scary Sounds when starting in the morning

When I start the car first thing int he Morning I hear what sounds like stones in a bucket rattling around. This last just a second. Then I hear a squeking sound like a pully that needs grease all eminating from the engine area...

To me I feel the first sound is due to no oil pressure, then the other a pully on the alternator.

Any input here is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Bob.. It sounds to me that you have it figured out!

Valve train clatter until pressure develops and cold belts squealing until they warm up. Oh... That's right... You live in Florida... That would be lukewarm belts until they warm up!

stones in a bucket sound like the cam chains to me. Mine does it when its been sitting for several days. Once oil gets into them, second or two, it goes away. i suspect mine should be replaced, but I havent been too worried about it. Mine is sensitive to oil level and much worse if it is even a bit low.

The wheel on the cooling fan belt sensor (image below) eventually starts to squeak (from wear I'm guessing). You can put WD-40 or another lubricant on it to see if it stops the squeak. If you get tired of lubricating it weekly, a new sensor (part #993-106-035-00) is not that expensive. If lubrication doesn't help than check the belt tension.

The sensor is located next to the pulley

Lightbulb

To all:

I think I have narrowed the squeking sound to the bendix on the Starter. When you turn the engine over and it does not fire the noise is there. So I belive when the bendix on the Starter is winding down after release from the flywheel it is making this noise It may need some grease or other but any intpu here is greatly appreciated.

Also in reagrd the valve train clatter on start up ,,,,,,, is there any pre-oil system out there to move oil up to the valve train prior to turning the engine over?

Thanks

Bob
