"So - have you any winter plans?"
1) I plan on not working on the car at all , just enjoy it as is . 2) Eat lots of good food so that I fit better in the normal seats . 3) Spend quality time with a flesh and blood lady . |
Hi Marc,
I plan to remove weight(from the car). It's the one thing that will enhance braking, handling, and acceleration. Different seats will figure into the equation, and though I dislike the thought of giving up the cloth sport seats which have proven to be very comfortable on long trips, I'll be looking for a compromise. I can always switch them back in, if the lwt seats prove too uncomfortable. Did you get a chance to try the Recaros? Noah |
Marc,
Dude you had better get going! You winter list is looking like mine. -You've been reading about my clutch replacement to factory specs. -Top end rebuild in progress Also: -Change wheels studs to different length & install 15 mm spacers -Get the RUF wheels cleaned up -Rip off my back bumper and figure out why my hood doesnt close evenly? Fender bent? Who knows! -Replace hood shocks -Replace windshield (the inner and outer layers are actually seperating and turning milky!) -Go over every inch of the hvac system/valving/tubes/motors/etc -replace front 'grill', old one is broken -remove front bumper and check out spare wheel well. Might be a dent there stopping my jack from sitting in place. No idea how that could be, but whatever. -paint calipers -update steering stop Most of your stuff looks like more fun! I already have the H4 headlights, H&R Coil overs, replaced turn signal assembly. Where are you getting titanium brake shields?? $$ ?? Is your heat installed in the garage yet? Mine is going in tomorrow. Kirk |
Plans for the next few months include:
-Replace outer rims on 18" split rims + 4 new tyres (in progress) -Replace sunroof seal (in progress) -Repaint front & rear bumpers, side skirts and sharks fins -Retrim cloth parts of seats and interior trim in dark grey Alacantra |

Rob,
The outer rims were bought from design911.co.uk for £89 each and my mechanic is doing the fitting for me. I had planned on fitting them myself but I want it back on the road ASAP and don't currently have the time to do it. If you want to do it yourself there is a thread on the 964 Turbo board covering Speedline restoration which you should take a look at. |

3) Spend quality time with a flesh and blood lady . no news from the Philippino front indycam? albin. more seriously, -get rid of the servo pbs that allow heat to get into the cabin at all time...but can wait spring i guess. -investigate further the Christmas tree effect and do the adequate tune up (it's seasonal though) -have the doctor look at why i have a small burnt oil odor (seal of the camshaft that connect to the power steering???)... -make the first pick up with my 964 :D |

Jim, Are these outer rims genuine speedline with the etchings on? |
These are not genuine Speedline rims, they are aftermarket ones but I don't have Speedlines on my car anyway so I wasn't bothered.
|
Marc, can you say something more on those spacers, I've been looking into it but haven't decided yet. Which way are you going? Tx
Kris |
Kirk:
Sadly - I am still waiting to get the heat in the garage.... The Ti brake shield are from Seine Systems and others here seemed to have good luck with them (no affiliation). Noah: Everything on my list has been purchased or ordered except the seats and roll-bar. I have not actually sat in the Recaros yet but I hear nothing but good things about them. Kris: Nothing fancy - it is the easiest job on the list. I'd put 5 mm spacers on the rear for looks but swapped them to the front when I noticed the front wheels rubbing. While it is a subtle change, I miss the 5 mm spacers on the rear so ordered another set (5 mm being max size you can safely put in without going to longer studs). Marc p.s. And Indycam - I plan to spend some time with my wife too. :) |
Tx Marc, can you really see the difference, back or front, with the 5 mm spacers? Adrian's book is referring to 17 mm (with longer studs) as ok for some models in the back -to appear to fill up the arches-. What's keeping you back from going with this option? Beside the higher cost, have you heard of any other issues?

"no news from the Philippino front indycam?"
I got an email from her yesterday , I mised her 20th birthday . "And Indycam - I plan to spend some time with my wife too. " So the wifes gunna help work on the car ? |
Kris - I think that cosmetically a wider spacer would look better but I would have concerns about trusting 40 bolts (rather than 20) at the track. I think there are problems with wheel bearing wear with very wide spacers too. I'd like to think I can see a difference with the 5 mm spazcers. :)
Indycam - nah, she thinks it's just another car so has no interest. :( Marc |
