Anyone run without the anti brake squeel stuff
Guys,
Time for front pads to be changed.
I have searched the site and there is a link to P-car dot com in which it describes remiveing all the top hats etc etc.
Have any of you guys done this? should I just rip all that stuff off and put a bit of copper grease on the back like all other cars?

I replaced with Mintex pads this summer that had an anti-squel coating on the back. I tossed the hats and after the first 15 miles I had no problem with any noise.
The hats are a pain. No hats = two minute pad change, hats make the whole process a job.

No anti-squeel stuff on either of my cars and no silly sensors either. Stock pads on the daily driver (no squeel) and track pads for the track car (they squeel).

I recommend ceramic pads, with no anti squeal stuff.
The ceramics are supposed to squeal above the range of human hearing and leave less brake dust.
(Not sure if its true or not but I took out brand new pads last time because of the squealing and the ceramics immediately cured the problem.)

Thanks guys off they will go.
In the end I opted for EBC red stuff ceramic.
I think they come with a glued on flat piece of metal on the back. Tried to get Pagid but was having trouble no one seems to stock them.
Had the red stuff on the integra and they were ok on that car so will see how they go.
Lets see if I can do some maintenance without breaking anything for a vhange

Pesty, I had a lot of trouble getting my old pads out, even with cutting the mushrooms. Getting them in was even worse so I had to take some of the paint of the sides of the pads. I might have overdone that because I've got quite some vibration when braking at slow , 50 mph, speeds. I'm gonna put another set in to see if that would make a difference. I didn't put new mushrooms on and they don't squeel, they just shake
