Ruf Strut Brace
I recently purchased a used Ruf Strut Brace for my C2. So if any of you guys that have one of these could help me I would appreciate it. Did the bar come wth new nuts like the Weltmiester Barce did for my 944? If so, do you know what size they are? My regular deep sockets are not thin wall and the largest socket I can get in the holes is a 10mm and I need a 13mm for the stock Porsche nuts. Did you use a thin-wall socket to install your brace? Any help would be greatly appreciatd. TIA.

My car has Ruf brace but was installed by PO, so no idea what's in the package. Here is a closeup picture. Not sure if it helps.

craig001, looks like allen head bolts are the answer...
Now for the reason for my post: What did the Ruf brace run you, if I may ask? and did you buy it directly from Ruf? Thanks in advance, Mark |
Patrick,
Thanks for the picture. I was going about it wrong. I will email RUF and see if they sell the bolts. Mark, I picked it up on eBay for $217 including shipping from a seller in Florida. He's got a lot of stuff up on eBay. There are also a bunch of other braces in aluminum, carbon fiber and titanium (so they say) from sources like Vertex, RLA, etc. |
They would be allen headed NUTs not bolts and look to be the same as hold down a 3.2 Carrera manifold, part number 901.111.271.00. I'd start there.

That's a nut in the pic above? Interesting...

I doubt that they would have that at Home Depot...

I'm going to have to dig through my boxes of parts and see if I have any exhaust nuts. Thanks for the lead.

They were under $300 from Perfect Power. They’re over $600 at RUF. And practically identical. Feel free to be fckin’ stupid with your money. I’ll just be smart. Thanks. |

I have the RUF brace. Those nuts are a nightmare if you inherit ones that have been done and undone many times. They have very shallow bite surface on the Allen key. You do not want them rounded out.
