heater/air control unit making noise when the ignition is off

Default heater/air control unit making noise when the ignition is off

and key is out. i pulled it out.... it's not the little fan on the back. it's inside the unit. what's in there.... or what could it be?

Does it only do it when you first turn off the car, or will ti still make th enoise a few hours later ?

If youe HVAC is vacuum controlled, it could be the vacuum leaking down.

i'm not sure. i heard it right after i shut down. i removed the unit to try and see what it was. i un hooked the bottom connector and it stopped. then i unhooked the top connector and removed the unit. i debated taking it apart but opted to re-install it. when i did, the noise didn't return. i haven't driven the car since to see if it repeats. anyway i wonder what's in there that could be making a noise?
