Default Engine Insulation Pad

Sort of an old topic but wondering if anybody has figured out a way to replace the crumbling pad above the motor short of lowering it down. Any aftermarket types that are easier to fit? Getting tired of having to suck the foam out all the time to keep it out of the air cleaner. I dont want to go without the pad so that isnt an option.

Asked my mechanic about this, he said "wait for your rebuild" although he didn't say it couldn't be done...

I did it with the engine out. And I would say that it would be difficult to do with the engine still in the car.

Jim,The upper padding in the engine bay had the "deadly droops" also. I applied some epoxy 2 part glue inside the de-glued void, the padding was wedged up with supports to make a tight fit, masking taped the exposed front edge for a clean line when dry 24 hrs later, then clear varnished the forward edging with heat repellent clear spray coatings to stop the crumble, and presto, blah ! Barf, barf!! But much better then it was. The secret is to polish the 12 bladed turbine air fan, then no-one looks at stuff like that,. Anyway that’s what I did two years ago, and it’s holding fine..... Marc A. 911/964.

The pad in mine was droping / falling apart so I pulled it all and I can't see , feel , hear that anything has changed . When I drop the motor I'm thinking of useing a spray on urathaine coating .
