964 dissed* in PCNA November Newsletter
*dissed - Hip Hop slang for disrespected
OK...that got your attention
I am sure this was not intentional, but in the November 2005 PCNA e-mail newsletter that I just got, there is a section called "Retrospective" with some text discussing the origin of the 964. Of note is that the 964 C4 used hardware derived from the 959.
Great...save for the photo accompanying the write up. The caption of the photo refers to it as a 959, but its not even that, its a 993. The horror! PCNA can't even find a decent photo of a 964.
To paraphrase Rodney Dangerfield "We just don't get any respect".

I wrote PCNA through a link on their home page.

The Carrera 964
Out of the technological advances of the 959 came the first four-wheel drive 911. The 1989 Carrera 964. Although substantially new, the model retained the classic Porsche shape and air-cooled engine. Another unique feature of the 964, its rear spoiler. At rest the 964 displayed only an air-inlet grille in the rear deck. An electronic motor did the deploying of the spoiler at speeds above 50 mph. While retracting it at speeds under 10 mph. With these additions and that of four-wheel drive, the 911 achieved a whole new level of performance and road-gripping power

Hahaha - I saw that myself today, and was appropriately disgusted. How sweet would PCNA wallpaper be with some actual 964 ad photography?
I bought this poster off Ebay that's a scream - it's a 964 targa pulled up to a country club, with a set of golf clubs standing next to it, and a country club swisher dropping tennis racquets in the back. It would make classic wallpaper...

Pretty embarrassing for PCNA, it must be a result of trying to hard. It's a nice poster, but it would be even nicer with a 964 in it. I guess it is true the 964 is the forgotten 911, but the best looking one

Nordschleife Master
I just got the email and read it. Was expecting to see a 964 C4 when I downloaded the picture. Then for a split second seeing the front lights thought maybe its a picture of a 959. But seeing the rest of the picture knew it was a 993.

I would say they "dissed" the 993, the 959, as well as the 964!
Let's hope it is just a typo/proof-reader error otherwise there are bigger problems at PCNA than we know of.
