964 SIDE MIRROR UPGRADE (993)
 

Hello, this is my first post. I am a 964 fanatic.. and pour money into my Porsche like a damn fool...

My latest project (aside from paint, body work etc. from Katrin Damages) is to upgrade the side mirrors to the smoother tear drop 993 mirrors. I plan on buying junk mirrors from LA Porsche dismantlers, and install. My question: who has done this, what tips do you have, and what wiring changes do I need to make to have the new power mirrors operate?

I have looked at every 964 website for tips, and I can't find any. Hope you all can help.

Lots of us here have done the mirror upgrade (including me) and and can help you out if you get stuck.

I found the wire colours to be different in my car than what was in the 911/PW article. I used the following.

Thanks boys... I really appreciate the help. I will print that article and get it to my mechanic asap. BTW, any ideas on where to order these mirrors? I have done business with Todd at LA Porsche and his stuf is pretty nice. He is asking $400 for the pair of mirrors. Seems a bit pricey, but I'll go with that unless you think there is a better source. Please advise; and thanks again.

PartsHeaven ( http://www.partsheaven.com/ ) has been good to deal with for me (although I got my mirrors on eBay for $180).

In this subject, who has replaced the third light with a 993 version? The "Come Home, ET" version really bugs me. LA Dismantlers quoted about $100 for the replacement item.

Got mine at MS Road & Race who advertised on eBay. A Rennlist sponsor too! :D
