PSS9 Question

I have a friend who's having trouble posting at the moment, so he asked me to put this question to the forum for 'em so to speak. Anyhoo, he has an RSA that he mostly tracks and occasionally streets and is thinking of going to a PSS9 system. Apparently the 964 version was just introduced (or reintroduced) a few weeks ago. The price is significantly higher than for that of the 993 and he thought he remembered that several folks on this board had installed the 993 version in there 964. Is this possible? Is so was there some custom work invovled? Given the cost ~3K are there any better altenatives out there? And any comments on the effectiveness of the PSS9 both on track and off would be appreciated as well. Thanks on his behalf.

LEDA's are a great alternative. They are much better with regards to cost, too. And, they're a direct fit! ;)

I have PSS-9's on my 993 and JIC-Cross on my 964. I greatly prefer the Cross suspension. The cost is about the same as PSS-9s. Tell him to look at the Cross suspension.

IMO PSS-9`s are a bit soft if you do mostly tracking. I am looking at Leda for next season

As Tom said, the JICs are a good track type shock. They come with the upper monoball mounts and different spring rates depending on intended use. Pretty good value for the money. PSS9s are a fair shock for the track, but are a real compromise as they are more of a high-perf street application. If you want a better alternative, then a Moton setup will shave a couple seconds off lap times (when setup properly). Of course this will close to double your $3k budget. So as with anything in racing, "how fast do you want to go" = $$$$.

Funny, I said the same thing to him. Thats what on my 911. You guys running singles or doubles? What spring rates?

I can't tell if Leda's are available for the '89 C4. Anyone know? Is the cost still ~2k? If so, then they are *way* less expensive than pss9's for the '89 C4 (~4k).

They are available for 89 C4
