C2 White Gauges
 
I finished the change over to the white gauges in my C2 last night. I had them done at North Hollywood Speedometer. They told me they would turn them around in two days and they did ! :eek:

They also fixed my sticky tach as well. :D

The whole process took about 20 minutes to remove the gauges (being very careful) and then about half that to put them back in.

I used a little trick to put them back in easily. Put the rubber ring into the opening in the dash then put some soapy water on the inside of the ring and also on the outside of the gauge. The gauge will slide right in and it will allow you to position it just right before in dries and is in tight.

Tom, the gauges look great!

Can you give us an idea on how much North Hollywood Speedo charges to change the gauges to white faces?

I have been interested in doing so ever since I purchased my GP White 964 two months ago.

They charged $340 to do the gauges and I had them fix my sticky tach for another $70.

Well worth it in my book seeing as how I did this on my own a last year on my 74. It took two days to have them do it and the results are great !

Looks sharp Tom. I recently pulled out my speedo to pop in a check engine light, to activate that system. While I was playing around, just for the hell of it I tried to pull out my tach, got it loose, but it hung up on the hub of the steering wheel. I really didn't need it out, and didn't want to force it, so I sent it home. Never had that happen on my 930. Is there some kind of trick in getting the tach out, or do I just need to be more assertive?

If you pull the tach out just a little way you need to turn the tach 180 degrees and angle it out from the top.

It is deeper on the top part of the gauge than the bottom (you can see this in the pic below). It also helps if you undo the connection behind the gauge first. It will rotate easier.
