Question Need HELP!

Well, my first big screw up...

My battery was dead on the C4, so I went to boost it with one of those portable boosters and me being in a hurry, mixed up positive/negative...

well now my ABS, traction control and rear wing light stay on and my speedo doesn't work...

I imagine I blew something and will check it out more once I get back home (I got called into work on an IT "emergency")

Hopefully by tomorrow morning I'll have some replies...

Thanks guys.

May have fried a ground wire, depends how far into the wiring harness it got, (that could be a big problem). A new harness runs $1000 from a dismantler, but the labor is the real expense. Sorry for the negative opinion, Schuey. I certainly hope it is a quick and easy fix after all.

Oh my - that does not sound good.

Hope it all works out okay but I suspect some real damage may have been done.

Well guys it was a fairly straight forward and easy fix...all fuses, two 15A and one 30A did the trick...you guys had me worried when I saw the replies, but I had a hunch I'd be ok, or at worst I'd need to replace some of my relays...

thanks for the help though...

You have are SO lucky. I was araid to comment because I thought the worst when I saw this post. I'm glad it worked out as an easy fix for you.

You may want to put those big black and red felt pads below your terminals so they are easier to see and there are no mix-ups in the future. (But I doubt you'll ever do that again!)

I hear you...and have done this...good thing it was only a "short" touch on the battery before I "woke up", had I actually clamped the terminal, it could've been alot worse...

Thanks for sharing your experience with us !
This is the sort of thing that gives me nightmares. Just shows up the good design of the car with the fuses doing their job.
