I know that Bentley doesn't have a service manual for the 964, the Porsche Technical manual is overkill, and the pirate CD is frowned upon.
Looking at the webpage for alldata.com, they offer a yearly subscription for a particular make and model ('90 C2 Tip in my case).
Does anyone subscribe to this, what do they offer, and is it worth pursuing?
As always, thanks for your reply.

Depending on what your needs are, you might want to consider the Bentley "Without Guesswork: Porsche 964 Technical Data". You can see the Bentley description of it here. And at the bottom of the RB page, that is Jeff Curtis's picture, with the torque bar, showing how to set the camber.

Dear Lou,
The subscription to alldata is worth the money. The access to the technical service bulletins is worth the money in itself. If you are into DIY the Bentley 964 handbook is also useful in many areas. The combination of an alldata subscription and the Bentley 964 handbook is less than 100 dollars. Save some money for my 964 book when it is released later this year though.
Ciao,

I've subscribed to Alldata for a couple of years now for a Land Rover, the information was very useful. Many pages directly out of the shop manual. Lots of detailed instructions on various repairs.
I'm not as impressed with the service for my '89 C4. There is basic information, but really nothing that you couldn't get from any automotive experience.
Case in point, I'd like to see the removal instructions for my Cruise Control (trying to troubleshoot a problem) which requires removing the throttle plate. Well I can't find any of the shop instructions through my subscription.
You may find it useful, but it doesn't replace the shop manuals (for the 964 at least).

Well, Alldata is the only place I know of where you (as a non-Porsche dealer) can get all the Technical Service Bulletins and the associated info (unless you search Rennlist and find it, which is unlikely in my experience). Anyway, I subscribed to Alldata on a whim, thinking, hey, it can't hurt, and it's only $25. The day after I subscribed I had a bit of a problem with my car (trying to remove the fender), looked on Alldata, found out what was going on. It's $25, not a lot of money IMO, when you consider that the Bentley book is $70 and the Workshop Manuals are over $400 IIRC (and also not available in the US at the moment).
Wow, lots of rambling, I'm in a rambling kind of mood tonight - basically I'd recommend Alldata to pretty much anyone.
