The old M030 myth has arisen again.
M030 springs for a 964 WILL NOT LOWER. They are the same springs used on the RS America. Exactly the same part number.
For the 993 and 996 the answer is yes but not for the 964. There is no such thing as an Option M030 lowering springs for the 964. The only springs offered by the factory which will lower on installation are the 964 RS Springs. If you want Carrera Cup stuff you need to go to Weissach.
I have tried H&R Lowering Springs, M030 springs for a 40% increase in ride height and EIBACH 964 RS springs which I currently have installed.
These springs were ALL purchased in the USA, cos I got them real cheap.
The reason I do not recommend lowering springs on their own is simple. As the 964 ages so the struts and shocks wear. If you install lowering springs or performance springs onto these components you will find that they themselves, especially will bottom out. They are not stiff enough under load. This problem has been reported to me many times by 964 owners in the USA.
In the end, to do the job properly it takes money. C4 owners also need to deal with weight issues. Cab owners with flex issues and if you have a copy or access to a copy of the maintenance manual read what Porsche tell you to do when lowering the ride height or adjusting the ride height.
I always issue cautions and warnings on these issues. Takes a lot of research, asking a lot of questions but in the end the 964 owner has to spend the money.
Performance improvements I leave because they are terribly subjective. I wait until I get the complaint via email or the pictures. There are a number in my book which will make the reader finally say, ah! now I understand what he was talking about,
Ciao,

I'll just throw into the fray that the Porsche 964 Carrera RS suspension components are still available from Porsche. Most of the parts have to come from Porsche Germany and a few are sourced here. Interestingly, one end of the rubber bumpers are "not available for sale in US" although the other end is. I've got the components here and that's my winter project. I plan to take pics and do a write up on the conversion. I know one other person who is also doing this conversion this winter, so hopefully I can also add the benefit of his experience to the write up, too.

PS. Melissa, nice looking cab! Wait, do I see a tail disappearing under it??

Bill,

Melissa, nice looking cab! Wait, do I see a tail disappearing under it??
Hey, maybe that's the latest Porsche mod -- a retractable rat tail rather than a fixed whale tail.

I hope this works -- this is the first time I've tried to post a web site address on this discussion board:

964 tech. area from national PCA site

FYI -- This is the link to some pretty in-depth discussions I recently "found" regarding the lowering options for a 964 -- there are several different articles here that specifically discuss springs, consideration for stock shocks, corner-weight balancing, etc..
