Post Rear seat question--964/993

Hi all:

Are 964 and 993 rear seats interchangeable?

Can I mount 98 993 seats in a 964 C2? Parts catalogue shows 91-94 has top release button seats with very similar mounting points to a 993.

TIA,
Chris C.

Chris,

I'm not sure if the 993 rear seats will work in the 964.

I'm also not sure if this matters, but is this for a coupe or cabriolet? I think the rear seats are different (within the model range) for a cab vs. a coupe. (I'm assuming it's not a Targa, given the differences between 964 & 993 Targas.)

hallo
on the 993 the seats are the same for Cab/Cpe
The lockfunction is the same,it locks in the inside Bracket, but sometimes you have drill the hole a little bigger (before 92 Cars ).
I have done that in 2 Cars and it works fine.

All:

The cars are both coupes...yes, Cabs have different rear mounts due to, among other things, the seat belt mounting points.

Can anyone else validate Speedster's experience using 993 seats in a 964?

Dear Chris,
The answer to your question ist Jein (Ja und Nein).
Interchangeability depends upon what you have installed from original and model year of course. I helped somebody else on this list with this very question. We came up with a miriad of options and part numbers. Remember with the Speedster for instance that this was built on a Cabriolet chassis not a coupe chassis so mountings can be different.
Front seats ar emuch easier to deal with than rears. I know much of th trim never fits the same.
The only way to be 100% sure is to remove your rear seats and compare them to the ones you are looking at purchasing.
Failures in this can get a tad expensive,
Ciao,
Adrian
