Post which tyre? for C2 in the UK

After checking some past threads, I note the sheer complication of offsets, spacers etc for wheels. I currently have 255 40 R17 on the rear and 205 50 R17 on the front. These are on cup 1 wheels, but I'm not sure if they're standard.
Questions:

1. How can I be sure that the offsets and therefore tracking etc are within the correct limits.

2. Should I use 40 profile tyres on front to match rears? If so, any good recommendations?

3. There is no third thing! (for Monty Python buffs only!)

Adrian

That was uncharacteristically brief of you!

John, the tyre sizes you mention are pretty standard when upgrading to 17" wheels. If you are worried about the offsets, tracking and rubbing and all that stuff you should probably take your car to Strasse and they will check it for you. I know there has been numerous threads on tyre sizes before but you need to read them to understand the sizing concepts.

Good luck!

Dear John,
I did not answer question 1 fully. I am very busy this is why my answers are getting shorter.
You go to oyur 964 and look at the number by the air valve. It will be either 52 or 55 front and rear. If it is either of these numbers you are okay.
You can physically inspect for spacers. These are easily seen.
I suspect you are completely standard option stock.
Ciao,
Adrian.

Thanks for replies.

Having now re-checked handbook, I see that these as tandard sizes.

P.S. It was the Spanish Inquisition Sketch!
