Temperature sensor
Hi to everyone.
The trip computer of my new 964 C2 Cab works fine, in every indication, except for the temperature meter: when selected, it displays always "-40°C" (Celsius, I live in Italy).
I suspect the sensing device is missing or broken or disconnected, but... where is it ? Where has it to be ?
Thanks to you all
Herbie

Dear Herbie,
The temp sensor is mounted in the left hand outside mirror. Commonly people install aero mirrors and forget the temp sensor. I doubt that the sensor has failed without reason. I have seen them broken off and the wiring damaged due to some maintenance or other actions like a crash repair. I am sure that it will be something simple,
Ciao,

Burning Brakes
I have a related/unrelated question about the supposed on-board computer. It the owners manual I received with my 90' C4 it shows an on-board digital computer that tells fuel consumption, trip mileage, etc... Was this an option that needed to be purchased with the car or is mine not working? I follow the instructions and nothing happens

Adrian:
Yes, my car has (badly) mounted two drop/aero mirrors.
I unmounted them to check the sensor, but wires are replaced by the previous installer.
Do you know, please, the color of sensor wires ? And where do they come from ?
Thank you.
Slant: my '91's user's guide sounds like it: "if the car is equipped with the trip computer, the speedometer has only the total odometer, else it has the partial odometer too".

Dear Herbie,
The wire colours you are looking for are,
Red/Green and (red with green stripe)
Brown/Green (brown with green stripe)
They may not run through the mirror connector, according to the wiring diagram they are separate. I am not sure what you mean by where do they come from. They come straight from the rear of the trip computer, they will come throught the loom into the door then up into the mirror. If they have been disconnected I suggest they may well be inside the door somewhere,

Dear Herbie,
No problem and good luck,

PS: The fact that you have not seen the sensor tends to suggest it is missing. It is easily seen because part of the sensor is exposed to the outside air.
