I just overtorqued one of my valve cover studs and stripped it. RATS! One of the last ones to torque down and I screwed it up. Does anyone have a part # for the valve cover studs so I can order one? I assume it's easily replaceable and there's no better time than now to make it right......

I just hate making stupid mistakes. I was really trying to be careful and almost had the job done. Things had been going so well I guess I had convinced myself I couldn't do anything wrong. Oh well, you live and you learn. Any idea on that part # or where I can get it? I guess I can just go to the Porsche stealership and describe the part. Maybe they will even have one in stock!
lol..I crack me up....

You were using the big thick aluminum washer under the nut, right?
Happened to me too the first time I adjusted the valves, here is what I did:
Removed the washer, installed the nut directly against the valve cover with the remaining threads (don't over-torque this time) and then replaced the stud the next time I adjusted the valves and had everything opened up again.
The studs are inexpensive, but I think my dealer had to order them in, took a week or two.
I think the lock nuts can sometimes cut up & strip the stud threads.

Richard - Official Porsche CD's are available. I bought one from Pelican for something like $15 a coupld months ago. It comes with diagrams for all p-cars cars dating back in the range of 1000BC through 2004ish. Check Pelicanparts.com or do a google search.
