Default Good news / bad news...

The good news - I fitted my new CF strut-brace from advancedcarproducts.com.

Interestingly, the carpet seams seem to want to pass one side of the mount at one end and the other side at the opposite end.

Contrary to how it looks, the pocket remains completely useable. I just 'tucked it away' for neatness.

The bad news is what happened immediately after fitting the strut-brace, when I picked up the rear wiper to wash the car.

Still, better to happen like that than when it's in use...

Definitely worth checking yours for fatigue.

It's the Porsche God's revenge for noticing yesterday that the arms are adjustable!

LOL - that's what I was thinking, too!

FWIW, if your rear wiper blade sits at a funny angle, we found yesterday that under the rubber concertina bit is an adjusting mechanism to align it properly - and it wasn't even mine that we were looking at!

Awesome!

I got mine installed as well:

Got it from a Rennlist sponsor from the USA.

Good thing I do not have a rear wiper... I wonder how much strees it will cause on the canvas

On a serious note, sorry to see that happen. I hope you can source the part to replace it quickly. And agree... good thing you notice before using it... ouch...

John,

My sympathies - I did exactly the same on my car the first week I had it. Then came the first shock of my Porsche ownership when I found out a replacement arm was going to cost me £74 + VAT!!!! (Try Bert Gear BTW).

The replacement is a 993 part which is slightly shorter (to clear the brake light spoiler) and a slightly stronger design.

What IS that curious spoiler on your car John?? You can only just see the edge of it on the left side of the screen in the photo but it doesn't look like the "normal" 993 brake light spoiler.

Regards

Dave

Thanks for the Bert Gear tip, Dave - I'll give him a try.

If I have to get the 993 part, maybe I can go back to using a proper rear blade. I've been using a front one as it's shorter.

Spoiler and TBL is from Stuttgart Connection. It was a simply crazy price (and that was ten years ago!).

I'll put up a pic if I can find one.

Now i feel worried!!!!!!

John goes home starts to wash his car and his wiper falls apart - but only after he sees how mine is fixed first when we were in Wales and fiddled with it - i'm leaving it well alone, in fact i'm not going to wash it and i'm going to go out of the country for a few days just to resist the temptation to see if it's loose.

Your new strut braces look cool guys.

Any feedback yet on handling improvements or feel?

John - nice to see the strut in place - shame about the wiper. That's exactly how mine broke the first week I had it.

Jaime - where did you buy yours - it looks identical? (was it from advanced car products?) My company (advanced car products) is also a Rennlist sponsor, but we get enquiries from the USA for our strut braces, so it would be useful to point these people in the direction of someone more local. That said, we can ship to US (and have done)

Nice braces guys. John- love the 3rd brake light spoiler. You didn't have to replace the "cyclops" did you?

John,

Welcome to the "Rear Wiper Arm in-Hand" club. The same happened to me not long ago.

Congrats om the strut brace. It looks great. I am thinking about getting one myself. Does it improve the handling noticeably???

Take care

From advanced car products webpage:
Fitment
Porsche 964 and 993 - all C2 models; C4 models have not been tested (but may fit)

So, how easy/hard is to install?
