Post Installation of H4's

I just purchased some new H4 Headlights. A quick question. The only way I can see to secure the headlight is by latching the top of it over the lip along the top edge of the Headlight housing and securing it with the screw down below, in much the same way that the H5 rings are attached ???

Is this the correct installation approach ? The H4's don't seem to take advantage of the H5 existing connection points ? Am I missing something here ?

I looked through the archives but couldn't see anything specifically about this ?

Thanks in advance,

Andy

Dear apw

I wondered the same thing and apparently that's the way they are mounted (i.e the lip at the top of the fender or light bucket and the single scre at the bottom of the bucket)

These are the only two connection points indeed. And they work well.
The other two screws are for the adjustment of the height of the beam.

What I don't understand: What is a H4 light ?
I have an Euro '91, do they have this lights ?

Oscar,

The US 964's are fitted with H5 lights - the design is very different from the H4's. The H5's are attached to the fender / wing by 4 screws.

A lot of guys here in the States (Although I am a Brit) change the H5 for H4's because the H4's allow for a wider range of bulbs and I believe have a better lense. The H5's quite frankly were not very good

Thanks for the advice guys;

Hi Oscar

I'm not sure if the euro have H5's. The H4 lens actually has "H4" stamped on the lens in addtion to apw964's description of how they are mounted. The bulp inside an H5 light uses n 9004 bulb and I believe the H4's use an H1 bulb just to confuse things. The also have a small bulb mounted toward the bottom of the reflector as a daytime running light.

Now you're really confused but hope this helps
