Question Interesting track day experience

Well, maybe not so interesting for the racing crowd, but when taking a hard left hander(never during a right hander) and accelerating out of the corner at 5-5,500 rpm I noticed a sudden lack of power, almost like hitting the rev-limiter.The fuel tank was almost empty at the time. After filling up to half a tank the problem dissapeared.
Why the fuel starvation when turning left and not when turing right?

I've experienced the very same thing, while turning left. While I have not investigated it as of yet...I assume the fuel pickup is towards the Driver's side??

I don't run with less than half a tank on the track now.

Also, seems I go through quite a bit of gas at the track...lately I've noticed that fuel smell everyone talks about, I open the filler door and see spillage around the rubber surround.

Maybe I should fix that? Then it wouldn't cost so much to run on the track!??

I've also got the fuel leak around the filler cap and will have it fixed at the next service.
Track days certainly take there toll on tyres and brakes,I've just had the car in the shop to replace all brake pads, replaced the rear discs and put in Castrol RSF.

I hit the no-gas on a right turn (hairpin, so who can say where the gas ended up).

Humm, that's not something I like to hear because I plan to auto-X the 964 when I get it.. I was wondering if there was anything that can be done to correct this.. In auto-x the times are so close that the extra weight from a 1/2 tank (I usually run with a 1/8 tank full) could cost you first place..

Thanks

John

I did have the low gas alert light on before this happened. The turn in question was #1 at Summit Point -- hairpin at the end of the main straight, so there were lots of pressure moving things around.
