Red face PDAS/ABS

Hi guys,

Just had the C4 in to diagnose a problem with the ABS. Turns out that the control unit has badly corroded pins and needs to be replaced - all due to a leaking front rubber seal.

Scary thing is the cost. Apparently circa £2k for official Porsche unit, £1.1k for Bosche!! Can anyone confirm price? Also, do these things come up 2nd hand at all (UK)?

I guess this could have been prevented by good maintenance & checking of the seals in the past so recommend anyone who has recently purchased gets this checked as a priority, esp if you have to park outdoors.

Btw: thanks Adrian for the forum articles on PDAS/ABS - really helpful.

Rgds,
Peter 1990 C4

I had the exact same thing happen to my 90 C4 about 2 years ago. The cost of the new control unit was around $2200 US plus the mechanic spent a couple of hours cleaning the contacts on the wiring harness to save it.

I have a spare unit at home. A -00 which will be the type installed in your 1990 model C4. The 1991 models had -01s installed.
I will sell it for a lot less than you are being quoted. If you are interested please email me off board.
On the subject of corroded pins. This has been posted many times. However a huge amount of data was lost from the archives so it may be gone now.
Ciao,
