What muffler should I get that produces teh most HP increase?
Also are the twin exhaust versions better?
anyone Know of any dyno tests?
Thanks

No muffler is going to give you any gain. If you buy headers and the complete system then that is another story. This cannot obviously be done for $300 or even $1500.

Hi Randal,
Are you talking about a primary or secondary muffler bypass, or the replacement of the entire exhaust system?
For bypasses, I think Christer is right - you wont notice a real gain in HP - but the sound that a primary (Cup) bypass makes is fantastic and not too loud - saves you some weight at the very back of the car as well. I've never heard what a secondary bypass sounds like so I cannot comment. You could also look at a Cat Bypass but the possibility of discovering your car smokes may not be worth the risk.
For exhaust replacement Christer the one to talk to.

Hey Ade
I am no expert on exhaust systems generally, but have done a bit of research. There are also others here that have done some testing....I am sure they will chime in.

Randal,
General consensus is that removing one of the two mufflers will produce some slight additional HP, some at the lower end or some at the top end, depending on which muffler is removed. As mentioned already, there is a weight savings which is always a good thing. And removing cat and both mufflers actually reduces HP in a street engine - there needs to be some back pressure to function. The real kink in our exhaust are the headers. Solutions there depend on if you need heat or not. If you need heat, then some options are B&B, GHL, FVD, and Cargraphics (I believe all can be had with or without heat exchangers). You can also adapt 993 headers with some cutting and welding. If you don't need heat, then you have some better options, like the SCARGO headers and others make plain headers too. B&B headers with a Flowmaster muffler is one option I've seen recently, on more than one 964.
